Intellicus Targets Govt Sector To Push Its Products In India
By: Chirasrota Jena  |  Oct 19,2007

Venkatesh Anand, director, Business Development, Intellicus Technologies, India speaks on Intellicus' plans to foray into the Indian market.

How are web reporting tools better than other reporting tools?

Reporting tools are always better for small and midsized organisations. The enterprise reporting scenario has evolved to web based applications. Typical BI applications are better and cost effective for big organisations. Enterprise Web reporting tools, or Web-based reporting systems, allow companies and organisations to gain a better understanding of their business by putting critical information in the hands of all those who need it. A true enterprise reporting tool must be capable of accessing all the information assets in the enterprise and must support wide-scale deployment, potentially hundreds or even thousands of users and not just a handful of power users. Now web reporting has advanced to the phase of mobile standards. Enterprises are now able to integrate various mobile applications. Our solution is bridging the gap between BI and reporting. It is available in modular versions.

How is the latest version of Intellicus better than the previous ones?

As most enterprises are showing interest for mobile applications, we have integrated mobile applications in Intellicus v 3.5. It is supporting report alerts, superior charting, collaboration, XML output format and personalised dash board features. This version of Intellicus also supports instant messenger like Yahoo Messenger. Thsi version has a customisable Adhoc Report Designer, which empowers business users to create their own reports without much technical help. An intuitive browser-based GUI allows users to select, filter, group and summarise data at runtime. Graphs and charts can be inserted by merely dragging data elements into a report canvas and viewed in PDF, Excel, HTML, Interactive, Flash and CSV formats.

So far Intellicus has been doing its business in US and other countries; now you plan to enter India. What are your plans for the Indian market?

Yes. We have focussed on the US customers till now. We have already 500 Intellicus installations in US.  It is a laudable achievement that in a very short span we have been able to gain a long list of clients in the US. At that time, India market was not as matured as it is now. There is lot of traction now in the Indian market and the time is right to work with the Indian customers. We have already started discussions with some of the Indian customers in various verticals. We have found here that government is a major spender in technology. So we have already started discussions with some of the state and central government bodies. We have also started discussions with the system integrators who already have a presence in the government sector.

We are planning to launch an end user product towards the end of Q4 of this year specifically for the end users. This product will be also available through internet. We are planning to provide this product free of cost to the Indian customers with some limitations in scalability than those who will buy it. This product will also be available in US, Europe and Australia.

Could you elaborate on the R&D operations and your target verticals for India?

We have a strong R&D team in India and through this team we have supported our global customers. We also work together with our parent company Impetus in designing and developing latest solutions. Our research team is working on latest technologies like Web 2.0 and Ajax. Our specialists’ team help our global customers in information delivery, building an efficient business intelligent strategy and implementation decision through 24/7 support.

Though we have started discussions with the government agencies to deploy our product, we are also looking into other verticals like BFSI, healthcare and security and compliance segments. We have integrated security reporting tools in our solutions which has attracted customers from the security and compliance area. We are also talking with ISVs in India.
