International Institute of Information Technology (I2IT), Hinjawadi, Pune has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Finland based Nokia-Siemens Networks for collaboration in the field of IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) application software development.

The IMS, which is a gradually evolving access-agnostic technology, is to be used in the upcoming Third Generation (3G) and Fourth Generation (4G) networks and fixed-mobile convergence.

Nokia Siemens Networks will provide the necessary software (Network Emulators and SDKs) for the IMS applications development, whereas I2IT will be contributing by developing the IMS applications.

According to Dr Vijay Bhatkar, chief mentor of I2IT, “Innovation and leadership is the mantra for our Institute. Our relationship with Nokia Siemens Networks will stimulate the students and faculty members to work for the IMS based Next Generation Networks applications. There is a great potential in IMS technology for NGNs.”
