Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Co on Thursday has signed a tripartite tie-up with Tata Consultancy Services and CMC Ltd to revamp its IT infrastructure. The new system will ensure improved service delivery processes for customers across branches in India, a release said. The deployment is line with the company's expanding business and the changing requirements of a free market in the insurance de-tariff regime.
With the changing market scenario, the need to minimize time to market is our biggest driving force behind the project," said S S Gopalarathnam, President Operations, Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Co Ltd.
While the software is a proprietary general insurance system of CMC, TCS will manage its customisation and successful deployment over the web.
Benefits to customers would include delivery of policies at remote locations, facilitation of alternate modes of payment such as credit card, mobile telephony and web and improved speed of interaction such as issuance of policies and settlement of claims.
The software will enable speedy delivery of customer interaction, minimize waiting period for any transaction as well as service to customers. The project will be online at 100 Cholamandalam offices across the country in the first phase, during April 2008. Once the process is completed, all offices across 150 locations will be fully functional with improved service delivery processes that are expected to bring down the servicing costs.
