Teradata has announced that Visual Numerics has agreed to integrate Visual Numerics' IMSL C Numerical Library and JMSL Numerical Library for Java into Teradata applications and tools.
The integration will give Teradata developers and customers a collection of mathematical and statistical functions to build advanced analytical applications for a range of business uses including price optimisation and forecasting.
"We selected Visual Numerics for its pure C and pure Java numerical libraries and their ease of integration into our architecture, as well as the company's reputation for robust numerical algorithms and expertise in applying these techniques to business problems," said Wayne Boyle, vice president of Product Management for Teradata. "With Visual Numerics, we are putting the power of advanced analytics in the hands of our customers."
"Teradata's selection of Visual Numerics' IMSL C and JMSL Numerical Libraries is a strong indication that enterprise customers are looking for tools to help them customise data analysis applications, versus buying one-size-fits-all solutions," said Phil Fraher, president and chief executive officer of Visual Numerics. "With Teradata, we're supporting Java standards, promoting high-end application development in data warehousing, and bringing even more data analysis functionality to a whole new user community."
Teradata has already begun to integrate the JMSL Numerical Library for Java into its applications with planned availability by the end of the second quarter 2007.
