Aircel Business Solutions (ABS), a division of telecom service provider Aircel has just launched WiMAX in parts of Bangalore city.
Positive about the commercial viability and acceptance of WiMAX in the city, ABS is currently in the final stages of implementing WiMAX across Bangalore's premier locations such as the Electronic City, Airport Road, St Johns Road, Jaya Nagar, Rajaji Nagar, and Koramangala.
ABS said that it will be able to provide pan-city WiMAX coverage throughout Bangalore in the coming weeks.
The company is also identifying and deploying Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the city with indoor and outdoor points backhauled with WiMAX. Internet services at these `hotspots' will be facilitated through pre-paid cards.
These pre-paid cards will be integrated with Payment Gateways for on-line registration and subsequently activated using the 'Authentication, Authorization & Accounting' (AAA) mechanism.
ABS is fairly bullish on the idea of Internet connectivity through WiMAX and firmly believes that there will be many takers for the arrangement, especially from the corporate segment. It is already charting plans for nationwide WiMAX deployments in the country.
"With all-India backhaul capacities connecting more than 125 cities and towns, ABS is targeting the top 1000 corporates for providing connectivity solutions, content services and M-Commerce services," said Ram Shinde, Head -Aircel Business Solutions.
