Airtel has introduced OnMobile's voice-based bill-payment service for its Landline customers in the state of Karnataka.
Developed and deployed by OnMobile, the service is available in English and Kannada. It allows Airtel Landline users pay their phone bills by calling 080-41144114 for free, irrespective of time and location.
The service is an interactive voice recognition-based system, which guides customers to make their payments in three quick steps. The customers are first asked to enter their Landline number, following which they are asked to enter the credit card details and confirmation of their intent to pay. Once the transaction is made customers are given a confirmation of the successful completion of the payment in the same call.
OnMobile, which provides value added service to telecom operators, will manage the voice application, real-time integration with billing systems and credit card payment systems.
Commenting on the occasion, Balachandran Unni, director M-Commerce and Mobile Marketing, OnMobile, said, "This service has been developed with industry-standard security technologies, thus making credit card payments extremely secure. Currently we have more than 1000 subscribers who have used this service. OnMobile will be adding more convenient payment modes like cheque pick-up to address a larger customer base."
OnMobile has already deployed speech recognition-based applications in 10 Indian regional languages for other wireless and wire-line telecom operators.
