ASUS and Lamborghini have come together to create the ZX1 PDA phone that's targeted at luxury mobile users. The manufacturers claim that whatever makes the Lamborghini such a gorgeous car has been adapted into the ZX1. The aerodynamic looks, the sleek profile and the highly maneuverable 9-way navigation key have all apparently been inspired by the car.
The back panel of the ASUS-Lamborghini ZX1 is covered with extremely lightweight but strong carbon fibre that is twice as tough as aluminium and five times stronger than steel. In addition, a high-grade stainless steel case protects the camera compartment.
This 3.5G phone boasts an impressive list of features, from wireless 802.11b+g, Bluetooth v2.0+EDR, USB2.0 and even GPS. It also claims to be the first luxury PDA that runs on Windows Mobile.
Speaking at the launch of the phone, Edward Wang, business head, mobile communication business, ASUS (India) said, "ASUS ZX1 is the first co-branded PDA phone from ASUS and is targeted at a niche segment – people who have a penchant for style. PDA phones are increasingly becoming fashion gadgets, and the ZX1 gives the user the ultimate ownership experience. ASUS chose Lamborghini as co-branding partner in the PDA phone segment as it shares the same position in PDA phones that Lamborghini does in the automobile industry."
Sumeet Gugnani, director, mobile communication business, Microsoft India, said, "The Windows Mobile 6.1 platform will make the Asus ZX1 PDA not only a much desired product, but also a good performer. Windows Mobile has received an overwhelming response in the Indian market and I am confident that this launch will give users a rich mobility experience.”
The ZX1 is estimated to cost about Rs 50,000 and comes with a two-year local warranty. This includes a one-time free replacement of the outer body case in case of any damage during the warranty period.
