In order to target the high definition unified communication market in India, Polycom has launched Polycom RPX HD telepresence solution in India.

Informing about the solution, Yugal Sharma, regional director, India and South Asia, Polycom says, "Polycom RPX HD solutions will provide the ultimate remote meeting experience to our customers. Each solution is an all-inclusive suite that comes fully equipped with all the furnishings, studio lighting, acoustic cloud and walls and electronics required for immersive telepresence creating a comfortable, luxurious collaboration environment that enables executives to focus on their important business, rather than on technology."

The company is targeting the Indian multinational companies having a presence in other countries as well as MNCs having a presence in India. Apart from these sectors, Polycom is also eyeing the government, education, health, judiciary systems and manufacturing verticals in India.

The entire suite of solutions will be available in the price range of Rs 1.5-3 crore. The company may face challenges while pushing the solution among price sensitive customers in India. Informs Sharma, "We are quite positive about the product and solution as we have unique features in it. Though in the first phase, we may find it difficult to convince the customer, once he realises the benefits, he will surely purchase it."

While other telepresence solutions feature multiple 16:9 displays that appear as letterbox "windows" into another room, Polycom solutions feature large, integrated, and contoured video walls that accurately capture true-to-life people dimensions. Available in a number of seating configurations from eight to 28 people, the Polycom RealPresence Experience solutions are symmetrically designed modular rooms featuring immersive HD sound, enabled through integrated ceiling microphones, acoustic wall paneling, high-fidelity stereo equipment and Polycom Siren 22 kHz Stereo Surround sound technology.

Polycom is working with its existing service providers like Reliance, Airtel, BSNL across India for the newly launched solutions. The company has also established its R&D centre in Hyderbad for the development of voice based products and is planning to expand the development of video based products in the future.
