India, China and other Asian-Pacific Rim countries are the areas to watch as emerging outsourcing destinations, according to results of the Global Outsourcing 100, an expert ranking of the world’s best service providers compiled by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP).
The annual ranking shows more than 60 percent of companies recognised in the 'Rising Star' category of companies, with fast annual growth of more than 33 percent are from outside the US, with most from the Asian-Pacific region.
"The remarkable rise in the number of companies from Asia, especially from China, who were considered for the Global Outsourcing 100 shows that the power balance in the outsourcing industry is shifting," says Jagdish Dalal, IAOP's managing director, thought leadership, who led the judges' panel.
In addition to the 'Rising Stars' recognised on the list, the Global Outsourcing 100 also shows an increase in Asian companies recognised as 'Leaders' with annual sales of $60 million or more.
Of the top 10 best outsourcing providers in the world, half were from India. These companies are: Infosys (ranked 3), Tata Consultancy Services (ranked 6), Wipro Technologies (ranked 7), Genpact (ranked 9) and Tech Mahindra (ranked 10).
IAOP established the Global Outsourcing 100 as a resource to help companies compare providers using an objective methodology and make better-informed decisions when selecting suppliers. It includes both 'Leaders' and 'Rising Stars', as well as 25 sub-lists based on geography, services and industry.
Similar to the qualifying process that companies use to select vendors, companies are ranked on quality following a rigorously judged application process that examines 18 criteria. The final rankings are based on a weighted average of the judges’ scores on demonstrated competencies, size and growth, management capabilities and customer references.
