Oracle Grows APAC Relational Database Management Systems Market Shares

Oracle has announced that it has been named the leading Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) vendor in India and Asia Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ), based on first half 2007 Asia Pacific software revenues by IDC.
In IDC's ‘Asia/Pacific Semi-Annual Software Tracker’, September 2007’ report, Oracle is the APAC market leader with 53 percent market share, growing 19 percent year-over-year to reach US$373million in software revenue in first half 2007. In India, Oracle leads the RDBMS market with 63 percent market share.
"Oracle has, through a sustained flow of innovation, continued to develop and strengthen its undisputed relational database market share leadership in Asia Pacific," said SPS Grover, vice president, Technology Sales, Oracle India. "With Oracle Database 11g , we expect to continue revolutionising the database world. Customers will benefit from unique features such as active standbys, real application testing and compression of all data types which will have a dramatic impact on the performance, reliability and economics of their IT systems ."
