GainSpan Corporation, an Intel spin-off and a provider of Wi-Fi semiconductor and software solutions, has appointed S M Electronic Technologies to be a manufacturer's representative and distributor in India for all of its solutions.
"The solutions GainSpan has developed are extremely relevant to India and going by the current market trends have immense market potential as well. We knew that a distributor, who has the right knowledge, reach and resources, could play a key role in our ability to penetrate this large and complex market. S M Electronics brings all the above and more to the table and we look forward to working with them in bringing Wi-Fi sensor networks to life in India," said Vijay Parmar, CEO, GainSpan.
Ramachandran Murthy, director, Business Development, S M Electronics, said, "We are excited to be working with GainSpan to help bring their innovative technology to the Indian market. Our customers in India will greatly benefit from the GainSpan solutions that consume low power and are designed to support a broad range of sensor applications".
The GainSpan GS1010 SoC is an ultra low-power System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solution that leverages the widely deployed Wi-Fi (IEE 802.11) network. By utilising this infrastructure, people can deploy sensor systems using standard tools and knowledge base, and seamlessly integrate with existing management systems, including enterprise network management systems, as well as existing SCADA industrial and building automation systems.
