ShawMan Software has launched the “PortaPOS” for the Food service industry. PortaPOS “plugs in” to ShawMan’s latest POS that enables remote order processing and billing using a pocket PC based hand held devices based on WIFI protocol.
PortaPOS claims to overcome limitations of order taking systems that are bulky and restricted in mobility through usage of very low priced PDA. As PortaPOS is on standard technology, it imposes no constraints on the kind of PDA used.
PortaPOS supports touch screen as well as standard keyboard usage. It also supports various business rules, for operations, consolidations for multiple outlets as well as day end controls for accounting. It supports local as well as foreign currency settlements, cash or card or even coupon based settlements.
In addition, it also supports, over wireless technology, printing at kitchens for Kitchen Order Tickets [KOT] as well as on cashier’s desk for bill printing and settlement.
