AVTEC, an independent manufacturer of automotive engines and transmissions (powertrains) and part of the GP-CK Birla Group, has completed an implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite and other business applications software in three manufacturing units at Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Hosur (Tamil Nadu) and Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and in its head office in New Delhi.
AVTEC chose Oracle applications after an extensive evaluation process that included evaluation of applications from SAP. Oracle’s system integration (SI) partner Birlasoft completed this implementation in 8 months.
The company increasingly felt the need to move to an integrated ERP and business applications framework to enhance its operational efficiency. Therefore AVTEC decided to move from its homegrown ERP solution to Oracle E-Business Suite. AVTEC has already implemented Oracle Discrete Manufacturing, Oracle Advanced Planning, Oracle Supply Chain Management, Oracle Financials.
“With our earlier ERP system, we were not able to integrate the supply chains of the three manufacturing facilities thereby affecting delivery schedules and adding to costs. We were looking for a solution that would integrate our business operations across the country and in our three manufacturing plants helping us save cost, streamline our supply chains and enable better decision making,” said Sudhir Rao, CEO, AVTEC. “We found the Oracle E-Business Suite to be the best fit to address our complex business requirements and enable us to achieve better control over our operations.”
