In a bid to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural India, and ensure better reach of the Government services to the public, States are increasingly lapping up the NeGP(National e-Governance Action Plan) 2003-2007. As part of the Plan, the Centre has mooted the idea of setting up 100000 Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the country. These CSCs are expected to facilitate efficient connect and services delivery between the governments, businesses and citizens (G2C, B2C).
Bangalore-based Comat Technologies with it’s partner 3i Infotech has already set up around 800 ICT-enabled kiosks in Karnataka under the PPP model. Following on close heels are the states of Haryana, Uttaranchal, Tripura and Sikkim. Comat in partnership with these Governments is going to set up Common Service Centres across districts, tehsil and gram panchayat level.
In Haryana, out of the proposed 1159 rural kiosks, Comat is close to setting up 292 kiosks(e-Disha Ekal Seva Kendras) in the state’s first roll out exercise in Rohtak division.
Similarly, Comat will set up 706 CSCs across the Uttaranchal state benefiting 6.3 million population in its rural areas.
Comat will soon extend its expertise to North eastern states, where 140 and 45 CSCs are going to be set up respectively in Tripura and Sikkim.
