By: Chirasrota Jena  |  Nov 01,2007

According to AMI Partners, the Indian data centre market estimated to be worth around $100 million now, is expected to double by 2009. The growth is expected to be driven by a number of factors including increased supply and decreased cost of Internet bandwidth and hosting mission-critical applications such as ERP and CRM in third-party data centre. The growing popularity of rich media, Web 2.0 and other high-bandwidth applications are raising the bar for network infrastructures, especially in data centres.

With the data centre market growing at a CAGR of 26%, the growth of 10G cabling has become a reality. CommScope, a player in the structured cabling market plans to tap the immense potential of the data centre market in India.

Acccording to Ispan Kandasamy, VP and MD, APAC, CommSCope, “The total cabling market for APAC region will reach $1.5 billion by 2010. The data centre market is expected to grow at 33% while the total cabling market including data centre and enterprise is expected to grow at 11% by 2010. The cabling used in the data centre will reach $500 million by 2010. The growth of data centre market is the major driver behind the growth of cabling in APAC.”

The company recently acquired Andrew Corporation in order to expand its portfolio in the network infrastructure segment.

Randall W Crenshaw, GM, executive VP, Enterprise Division, CommScope, said, “Andrew acquisition will be over by the end of this year and from January 2008 it will work as a separate entity of CommScope. With the acquisition of Andrew, CommScope will be able to expand its infrastructure solutions for communication networks which include cabling for enterprises, broadband cable solutions and network solutions for wireless applications.”
