McAfee has released the McAfee IntruShield 10 Gigabit Ethernet platforms, the network Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) appliances to deliver performance of up to 10 Gbps.

The new IntruShield multi-gigabit M-Series platforms are designed to meet the explosive growth of IPS into the network core and data centre, as well as the rapid growth of high-performance10 Gigabit Ethernet and IPv6 networks.

"Now that 10G Ethernet is widely deployed, customers need IPS solutions that can keep up, but it's not just about performance Customers are looking for network security solutions that are more actionable, integrated and efficient," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics Research.

"McAfee IntruShield's ability to integrate both network and system solutions and provide next-generation 10 gigabit performance, offers real value and makes them a strong enterprise solution to protect against network downtime."

McAfee also announced the introduction of McAfee IntruShield 4.1, which delivers network and system integration and collaboration. The new integration is part of McAfee's security risk management (SRM) strategy.

McAfee IntruShield 4.1 offers integration with other products in McAfee's security risk management portfolio, including McAfee Foundstone, McAfee Network Access Control (NAC) and McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO).
