Tellabs has introduced the Tellabs 8605 access switch in its Asia Pacific region, which handles circuit-switched and packet-based traffic. The access switch enables operators to roll out new, bandwidth-intensive applications to meet the evolving needs of subscribers.
"With Tellabs 8605, operators can quickly introduce new IP-based 3G services as they continue to leverage investments in their current transport solutions," said Sanjay Patel, vice president and general manager, Sales, Asia Pacific.
The Tellabs 8605 access switch claims to reduce capex by using pseudowires to manage TDM, Ethernet and IP traffic in a single device; guarantees quality of service for voice, video and data and provides timing synchronisation for packets over Ethernet.
