IBM announced a set of software products from Lotus to expand Lotus’ collaboration portfolio for the growing market.
The Lotus software product line-up from IBM includes IBM Lotus Connections - a business-ready social software platform, IBM Lotus Quickr - a Web 2.0 collaborative content platform offering, IBM Lotus Sametime 7.5.1 and IBM WebSphere Portal Express Version 6 - a collaborative portal solution specifically designed for SMBs.
IBM also demonstrated IBM Lotus Notes and Domino 8. The new Lotus Notes client includes major upgrades to core applications and expanded integration with the new collaboration tools.
The IBM India Software lab (ISL) also contributed significantly to the development of these new technologies. The India lab has been the lead lab developing the Lotus Sametime 7.5.1 server development on Linux platform.
"Enterprise-ready social software, portals, e-mail, integrated document collaboration, and unified communications are all strongly linked elements of Lotus’ open software portfolio." stated Antony Satyadas, chief competitive marketing officer, IBM Software Group.
"The Lotus momentum has been building for over two years now, during which Lotus witnessed double-digit growth. The increased customer momentum towards adoption of web-based social collaboration tools shows that businesses are transitioning from quest for personal productivity to ‘team productivity," remarked R Dhamodaran, director, IBM Software Group, IBM India/ South Asia.
