Oracle India is planning to increase its headcount in India significantly above its current workforce of 19,000.

"India has always been important for us. Currently, almost 19,000 people are employed with us and we plan to increase it significantly in the coming years," said Mark Gibbs, senior vice president (applications and industries), Asia Pacific, Oracle.

"We have also been making significant investments here and we will invest considerable amount of money on an ongoing basis," Gibbs said, adding that the company’s focus currently is to enhance its software applications in India’s small and medium segment.

Oracle has invested over $2 billion over the past five years in India and has two development centres.
