Verimatrix has announced that IOL Netcom has selected Verimatrix as the content security provider for its on-demand IPTV service. In addition to deploying the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for IPTV, IOL will be offering MPEG-4 content via the subscribers’ personal computers through Verimatrix’s ViewRight PC Player.
"Content is king when it comes to attracting subscribers to new services like IPTV. Verimatrix proved to be the best content security choice to not only meet the content owners’ requirements for MPEG-4 programming, but enable a new business model through the PC," said Siddhartha Srivastava, president of IOL Netcom. "Expanding delivery options to the PC will assist in customer acquisition, reduce installation resources and allow the customer to experience our ‘Anything, Anytime, Anywhere’ promise."
As an additional layer of protection, IOL will be deploying Verimatrix’s VideoMark user-specific, forensic watermarking technology in conjunction with the ViewRight PC Player. This extra security measure satisfies content owners’ strict security requirements and protects the ‘an’alog hole.’
"IOL is implementing leading-edge methods to penetrate the Indian market with compelling IPTV services. Because we support a diverse set of clients through software-based solutions, we have the flexibility to respond to their unique network challenges," said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer at Verimatrix. "IOL is an excellent example of putting our layered content security approach into practice."
