RSA, the security division of EMC, recently announced a series of initiatives, including the integration of Symmetrix DMX-3 enterprise storage platform with RSA SecurID two-factor authentication, EMC's and RSA's flagship products respectively.
RSA also announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hyderabad, India-based Valyd Software as part of a major expansion of RSA's enterprise data protection (EDP) strategy designed to effectively secure information wherever it resides.
"For too long, information security has been an embarrassing misnomer, despite billions of dollars of investment data breaches are not slowing down and four out of five organizations admit to having little confidence in the security of their information," said Art Coviello, EVP, EMC Corp and President, RSA, the security division of EMC. "It is time to re-focus information security - away from the perimeter and onto the information itself - in order to provide customers with the confidence that their assets, brands and end-users are protected and to free them up to realize new business possibilities."
The initiatives will help enable customers to gain the necessary level of confidence in the security of their critical assets. Information-centric security includes key elements such as securing information, securing access to the information for employees, customers and partners.
RSA’s acquisition of Valyd will provide RSA's customers with new solutions for effective enterprise-wide encryption management, including RSA Database Security Manager and RSA File Security Manager.
RSA has also announced new and expanded strategic partnerships that will accelerate RSA's initiative to enable secure access to information and foster ubiquitous stronger authentication by embedding the industry-leading RSA SecurID algorithm into everyday devices.
