Websense has delivered new software designed to help businesses automatically identify and understand where confidential and sensitive data resides throughout their organisation.
The new Websense Data Discover software – based on data discovery technology in the broader Websense data loss prevention suite – provides organisations a stand-alone data discovery tool without the additional data monitoring and enforcement capabilities of the Websense data loss prevention suite.
“The volume of data at rest throughout organisations is growing rapidly, and business have asked us for an easy-to-use discovery solution to help them accurately search their massive volumes of data to identify and classify where confidential corporate information is stored,” said Devin Redmond, senior director of product management, Websense. “After speaking with our customers and prospects, we enhanced the discovery capabilities in our data loss prevention suite and also delivered a stand-alone tool to give customers the freedom to choose a data discovery solution or a more complete data loss prevention suite with coverage and sophisticated workflow for data in motion, at rest and at the endpoint.”
The enhanced data discovery capabilities are also included as part of Websense Data Security Suite version 6.5, which also features new forensic and incident management capabilities as well as an expanded library of more than 450 policy templates to ease configuration and map data protection to business policies. The set of policy frameworks includes new templates specifically for discovery of data at rest and a new policy wizard that facilitates set-up and speeds deployment. Websense Data Security Suite was previously named Websense Content Protection Suite.
