Symantec Announces Backup Exec 12 For Windows Servers

Symantec Corp. has announced Symantec Backup Exec 12 for Windows Servers. As mentioned in the official press release, Backup Exec 12 introduces certified and optimised support for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, enhanced granular recovery of critical application data and extended platform protection. Backup Exec 12 now integrates with Symantec solutions including the ThreatCon global security alerting system, Enterprise Vault to protect email archives and the new Symantec Protection Network for accessing offsite storage. Backup Exec 12 also introduces backup and restore of Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Active Directory, and SharePoint environments as well as support for non-Microsoft environments.
Backup Exec 12 for Windows Small Business Server delivers data protection and system recovery for small businesses running Microsoft Small Business Server systems. It is available in Standard and Premium Editions, Backup Exec 12 for Windows Small Business. Backup Exec 12 for Windows Small Business Server introduces support for Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Active Directory environments as well as for remote Linux, UNIX, NetWare and Macintosh systems.
"With certified support of Windows Server 2008 plus support for Microsoft's leading applications, Backup Exec 12 is a primary example of Symantec's commitment to deliver timely and efficient backup and recovery solutions for our customers' evolving Windows needs," said Ajay Verma, Director, Channels and Alliances, Symantec India. "Furthermore, the new multi-product integration capabilities introduced in Backup Exec 12 allow customers to secure, back up and archive critical data to help reduce IT risk and manage cost."
