nworks has announced that the nworks Smart Plug-in (SPI) for HP Software Operations Manager (formerly HP OpenView Operations) provides full support for the upcoming VMware ESX Server 3i and 3.5.
The nworks SPI for VMware Environments integrates state, event, performance and configuration information for over 300 different VMware specific performance metrics directly into HP Operations Manager thus delivering quick time to value out of the box.
VMware ESX Server 3i implements the VMware hypervisor directly onto server hardware, eliminating the Console Operating System (COS) relying completely on remote management through the Virtual Infrastructure API (VI API).
nworks also announced updated support for HP Performance Insight (OVPI) 5.1. HP Performance Insight quantifies service-level management, monitoring and reporting on the systems, networks and applications that make up individual services. With the nworks SPI, detailed performance data from VMware Infrastructure can be incorporated into HP Performance Insight.
Brian Byun, VP of global partners and solutions at VMware, says, “VMware works with our partner ecosystem to provide a full range of end-to-end management options for customers deploying VMware Infrastructure. nworks SPI for VMware Environments enables customers to rely on their established HP Software Operations Manager deployments for monitoring performance and configuration information of the latest releases of VMware Infrastructure 3.5, including support for thin ESX Server 3i architecture. nworks proactive and responsive support for new VMware capabilities will simplify the adoption and upgrades of VMware Infrastructure for many of our customers.”
