HP recently announced new storage offerings to help enterprise customers consolidate, virtualize and secure their storage environments. The new offerings include enhancements to the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array, a new network-attached storage (NAS) gateway and advanced encryption for HP Data Protector Software.
Each product helps address the increased need for unifying and managing direct-attach, NAS and storage-area network (SAN) resources that accompany the significant growth in corporate data servers.
"We’re helping customers build easy-to-manage next-generation data centres with our broad portfolio of Adaptive Infrastructure hardware, software and services," stated Duncan Campbell, vice president, marketing, StorageWorks Division, HP.
Part of the new offerings is HP’s StorageWorks EVA File Services, which the company claims allow customers to consolidate their storage with an integrated, virtualized solution that serves both application and file data concurrently. The new solution adds file services to any new EVA4000, EVA6000 or EVA8000 in Microsoft Windows or Linux environments.
The HP ProLiant DL585 G2 Storage Server is a plug-and-play NAS gateway that provides high-performance, multi-protocol file and print serving and iSCSI connectivity for both enterprise and workgroup SAN environments.
HP is also enhancing its HP Data Protector Software 6.0 to provide 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption. According to HP, Data Protector Software reduces complexity and completes backup encryption on the client level ensuring data is secure during transmission and at rest.
