Bharti Airtel will launch its mobile services in Sri Lanka with an investment of $200 million over the next five years.
The service will be launched through a subsidiary, Bharti Airtel Lanka Pvt Ltd, and include 2G and 3G services to be commissioned by the end of this fiscal, a statement issued by the company said.
"With mobile penetration of around 30% and growing at the rate of nearly 2 million mobile users per annum, we are excited about our entry into this market," said Sanjay Kapoor, president of Bharti's mobile services.
Bharti Airtel was recently awarded the license to provide 2G and 3G mobile services in Sri Lanka and will operate there under its Airtel brand.
