India's telecom equipment market grew by a robust 43.5% in 2006-07 to top Rs.771.17 billion ($18.8 billion) with mobile and fixed-line handsets business expanding by 45%, says a survey conducted by Voice and Data magazine.

According to the survey, carrier equipment contributed 55% to the overall market, while the share of handsets and enterprise equipment stood at 30% and 14%, respectively.

The survey also revealed that Finnish telecom equipment giant Nokia retained its top position in mobile handsets with a 54% share, followed by Ericsson of Sweden and the US-based Motorola.
