Schneider Electric To Help Set Up IBM Green Data Centre

Schneider Electric, a player in the energy management space, has been awarded IBM’s contract for designing and providing electrical distribution, building management/ security system, high density cooling and critical power solutions for the Green Enterprise Data Centre being built for Bharti Airtel in India. The contract entails Schneider Electric to complete and hand over the Green Data Centre facility to IBM by March 2009.
Olivier Blum, managing director, Schneider Electric India said, "Data Centres have been recognised as one of the major energy consumers in the world. Nearly 2 percent of world energy is today being utilised by Data Centres. Schneider Electric’s products and solutions make energy safe and reliable, while reducing energy costs and impact on the environment through energy efficiency."
For the IBM Data Centre, Schneider Electric will employ an integrated approach to Data Centre management comprising electrical distribution and energy management solutions; TAC's building automation, security and safety systems; and APC's InRow RC Cooling solution for high density racks and Galaxy range of UPS.
The scope includes complete system studies, design, engineering, supply management, project management and site installation activities.
