The iPod may truly be the best gizmo ever thought up. There’s a new dock station or accessory for it being made all the time. These accessories or add-ons aren’t always meant for just personal uses either but could also be utilized for commercial purposes. For instance, Alesis is one of the world's leading professional audio and studio equipment manufacturer and they have just launched the iMultiMix 9R. This device is in actuality, a professional mixer with the capabilities of an audio player that has an integrated iPod dock as well. The iMultiMix 9R also comes equipped with a composite Video Out.
This mixer slash iPod dock can even be used in a studio if necessary and is also the first of it’s kind to have a mixer with a video out and iPod integration all rolled in one. It also features 2 Stereo line inputs for the iPod or any other external source, a 3 Band (per channel) EQ, 5 mic preamps, Aux send and returns and 48V phantom power.
"This product represents the second in a new wave of pro-grade mixers that utilize the versatility of Apple's iPod as a playback device." says Alesis Product Manager Jim Norman. "Our research showed that most of our customers own iPods, and wanted a way to utilize them for various installation sitations such as churches, clubs and conference rooms. The iMultiMix 9R is the perfect way to do integrate iPod playback and pro-quality mixing in a studio environment."
The iMultiMix 9R should be out sometime later this year with a retail price of approximately Rs. 16,080 ($399) but the street price is estimated to be somewhere around Rs. 12,050 ($299).
