Transmeta Sues Intel
By: Jayesh Mansukhani   |   Oct 12, 2006
Techworld.com has reported that Transmeta has sued Intel claiming that the processor maker has used its power efficiency technology without taking permission or paying royalty. The Transmeta lawsuit is comprehensive and alleges that over 10 Transmeta patents have been infringed upon.

The lawsuit has been filed in Delaware and has named Intel's Pentium 3, Pentium 4, Pentium, Core and Core 2 processor families as the offending products for whom the power-efficiency technology has been used. Transmeta playing the wounded party has asked for the normal range of things i.e. compensation for damages, royalties, lawyer's fees and of course a ban for the offending items.

Considering the fact that the Pentium 3 had shipped in 1999 and Transmeta's Crusoe processor came out in 2000 it remains to be seen how this case develops.
