AMD which has been stung by the recent onslaught of Intel's Conroe has announced its intentions to demo a native-quad core processor to be called the K8L by the end of this year. This is in direct contradiction to earlier AMD roadmaps which revealed that quad-core production CPUs would not utilize a native quad-core design until late 2007 or 2008.
This announcement I am guessing, is because Intel one-upped K8L plans by announcing quad-core Kentsfield and Clovertown, will ship this year, as opposed to Q1'07 as originally expected.
