AMD To Push Torrenza Aggressively
By: Jayesh Mansukhani   |   Sep 22,2006
Dailytech has reported that AMD is planning to push its Torrenza technology very aggressively. This will allow manufacturers to collaborate and develop their own processor cores and use them with existing CPU socket solutions.

Torrenza was unveiled on June 1 with the promise of allowing hardware developers to integrate their solutions with existing AMD platforms and develop customized application specific processors without the need for re-inventing the wheel i.e. eliminating the need for building expensive and proprietary connect interfaces. A good example of this technology is the process of connecting non-AMD accelerators to AMD64 systems via Hyper Transport technology links. With Torrenza this process is now child's play.

Several manufacturers who have raised their voices for support for this technology are Dell, Cray, Fujitsu Siemens, Sun and HP. This latest move only serves to illustrate the growing importance of AMD in the industry with its innovative solutions and products.
