Net PC manufacturer Novatium Solutions, on Wednesday launched its flagship product 'Nova netPC' in Mauritius as part of its overseas expansion plan.
Nova netPC was launched in collaboration with Mauritius Telecom, the leading broadband providers of Mauritius.
With a price tag of just (Mauritius currency) MR 4,300 (USD 100) for the netPC in Mauritius, Novatium plans to increase the penetration to 1,00,000 households by 2012.
The company would market the Nova netPC in 10 cities in India, including Banglore, Kolkata, besides Tier II and III cities by the end of this year, Jaideep Kohli, COO, Novatium said.
The company would reach these cities through its retail partners and telecom companies. As of now the company has around 40 retail partners in Delhi and has also tied-up with MTNL to provide broadband services in Delhi.
As the number of broadband users are not much, the company would also tie-up with telecom companies to provide them a helping hand to increase their users.
Kohli said, "On hand the number of PC penetration is increasing but on the other hand number of broadband users are less when compared with PC users.
The company intends to ship around one lakh units by the end of this year.
The Nova netPC is a server driven device, a feature which makes it an obsolescence proof PC, as all the updates are carried out centrally through the server.
