Samsung Unveils New Cameras, Camcorders
By: Laiq Qureshi   |   Mar 14, 2008

Zutshi said, "We plan to aggressively tap the Photographic Channel and large format retail stores for our new Digital Still Camera range along with our regular CE Channel. Based on our innovative DSC range and our expanded channel reach, we expect to double our Digital Still Camera volumes this Year." The Samsung DSC Lineup is priced in the range between Rs. 5990 and Rs 19,990.

Samsung also launched a line of compact digital camcorders consisting of the VP-HMX10A, VP-MX10A and VP-DX10, providing consumers with a wide range of easy-to-use, high-performance features and stunning designs. These camcorders sport a swivel grip – able to rotate a 135 degrees – enabling consumers to shoot videos at very low or high angles.

Samsung's first HD camcorder, the VP-HMX10A, delivers HD picture quality resolution viewed on the 2.7-inch high-resolution touch panel LCD screen. Its 50 fps Progressive technology enables the VP-HMX10A to capture detailed videos, recording to 4 GB of internal flash memory (1HR recording).

The VP-HMX10A is priced at Rs. 34,900 and the Samsung camcorder range is priced between Rs. 13,900 and Rs. 34,900.

Samsung also showcased the NV24 HD, a 10 mega-pixel point-and-shoot digital camera capable of shooting high-definition video. It allows recording video in 720p high-definition at a maximum frame rate of 30fps. It features a movie stabilizer and optical zoom while recording video and with Samsung’s Successive Recording mode, can pause, and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files.

The NV24 HD utilizes H.264 compression, a codec for high‑definition video that has become an industry standard. To enjoy the NV24 HD’s high-definition video on an HDTV television, consumers simply dock the camera into a proprietary Samsung HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) cradle (sold separately). For added versatility, when the HDMI CEC cradle is connected to a high-definition Samsung digital television, end-users can navigate the NV24 HD’s menu using their TV’s remote control. The HDMI CEC cradle also gives shooters the ability to view and share their images in high-definition clarity, further enhancing the digital imaging experience.

With an ultra-wide angle, 24mm Schneider lens and 3.6x optical zoom, the NV24 HD gives shooters the ability to capture more of a desired scene and fit it into the frame, ideal for shooting landscapes or large groups of people. No word is out yet about when it's going to be launched in India.
