Canon today announced the launch of four new compact cameras that offer enhanced point-and-shoot capability. The cameras include blur-reducing Motion Detection Technology, and Canon’s Face Detection Technology now features Face Detection White Balance, and Red-Eye Correction that can remove red-eye automatically as the user shoots. Each camera also has a Face Select & Track function.
The Digital IXUS 80 IS and PowerShot A590 IS include Canon’s lens-shift optical Image Stabilizer lens for additional blur reduction and low-light shooting capability.
“Canon leads the field in image quality because it relies on intelligent solutions, not quick fixes,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “Every camera released today incorporates class-leading features to combat common problems like camera shake and subject blur, without sacrificing overall image quality.”
The four new cameras are:
Digital IXUS 80 IS – a compact, curved design in four attractive color variations (Classic Silver, Candy Pink, Chocolate, Caramel), 8.0 Megapixels, 3x zoom with optical Image Stabilizer and 2.5 inch high resolution PureColor LCD II.
PowerShot A590 IS – 8.0 Megapixels, 4x zoom with optical Image Stabilizer, new Easy mode and full manual control, a range of optional lens accessories, 2.5” LCD and optical viewfinder.
PowerShot A580 – 8.0 Megapixels, 4x zoom, 2.5” LCD and optical viewfinder, plus new Easy mode.
PowerShot A470 – 7.1 Megapixels, 3.4x zoom, 2.5” LCD and four color variations (Red, Blue, Green, Silver).
The lens-shift type optical image stabilizer lens found in the Digital IXUS 80 IS and PowerShot A590 IS contributes to low-noise images, according to Canon. It uses a movable lens element – rather than a boost in ISO – to counteract the effects of camera shake, with no accompanying increase in noise.
Price and availability are yet to be announced.
I purchased IXUS70 model in last December,though it is mentioned that it automatically makes red eye reduction as the user shoots,but that is not true,i clicked some 1500 photos untill now,the photos taken in low light condition always came with red eye though the reduction was ON mode.also for animals i took some photos say around 5pm evening,all the photos came with red andwhite(like blind) colours for eyes,and the software given in CD is not effective to remove that for more than one object in one snaps for eg.in a photo i have more than one red eyes,software can not perfectly detect it to remove for all .The camera is priced at 14999/Irs in Mumbai.
