Apple has just announced that its new movie service on digital music store, iTunes will not be available to Asian countries, with the exception of Japan. Apple had added the movie service to iTunes in the United States earlier this week but the company has refrained from offering the service in most Asian countries due to piracy concerns. Also, there seems to be a problem over licensing agreements with record and movie companies which has blocked off Asian consumers from accessing the service.
The movie service on iTunes is available only in Australia and Japan in the Asia-Pacific region, which constitutes the world's second largest consumer of music after the United States. Even in Japan, some labels have refused to allow their songs onto the service.
In the US users will pay $ 12.99 in the first week of release and $14.99 afterwards, according to the iTunes program. Archived movies will sell for $9.99. The service offers feature films from Disney, including films from Pixar, Touchstone, and Miramax studios and other companies are in negotiations to provide content.
