Transcend Launches 250 GB Portable HDD

Transcend has announced the availability of its new high capacity 250GB StoreJet 2.5 SATA portable hard drive in India. The StoreJet 2.5 is compact and features a polished aluminum case with contoured edges. To ensure compatibility with most desktop and notebook computers, the StoreJet 2.5 uses a high-speed USB 2.0 interface, which provides data transfer rates up to 480Mbits per second while offering the convenience of plug and play. Powering the StoreJet is a modern, high-capacity 250GB SATA HDD.


The StoreJet 2.5 SATA HDD features a convenient "OneTouch" Auto-Backup button, and comes bundled with Transcend's StoreJet elite 2.0 software, which offers backup scheduling, security, and power saving functions. The StoreJet 2.5 SATA is available in a colorful assortment of aluminum cases including: Titanium (120GB), Blue (160GB) and Silver (250GB). Additionally, the StoreJet 2.5 SATA is available without a hard drive as a sleek external enclosure. The enclosure is 100% compatible with all brands of 2.5" SATA hard drives, and is offered in silver, blue or red.

The StoreJet is available for a price of Rs. 7,900 from Mediaman Infotech Pvt Ltd and Supertron Electronics Limited countrywide.

You can try Maxtor 200 GB. It is available ata special price of Rs. 3679 at the Chroma outlets from Tata. Though the casing looks a little bulky (about the size of a brick) and a separate power chord makes it a little clumsy, it is the best value for the price.

pricing sounds double than whats provided in USA, when things are manufactured in China,Malaysia even say Japan have very SMALL SHIPPING cost, why such a HIGH price than in USA ? is it due to absurd Import tax duty things?

7900 is just too much even for a portable hdd......
i just had purchased a 320 gb hdd with an external casing and i got it for around 4000 rs... n tht is about half the price and even 70gb more than the price of this dirve
