PS3 is a Power Hungry Console
By: Avinash Bali   |   Oct 31, 2006

If your power bills are soaring thanks to excessive usage of the Xbox 360, you may want to steer clear of the PS3 as Sony's next-gen console sucks up 380 watts of power, nearly twice the amount used up by the Xbox 360 (160 watts).

Now I can understand that the PS3's really powerful and all but you're shelling out nearly $40 a year, if you play it for only two hours day (which we all know is not possible). Don't get too disappointed though, as Nintendo's Wii has come to the rescue once again as Kou Shiota, a key member of the console's design team, has this to say, "With a smaller chip and minimised power consumption, Wii can be left on 24 hours a day". No clue as to how much power it would utilize, but it will turn out to be cheaper than its next gen rivals for sure.
