Wii Shortage Hits Europe
By: Nikhil Singh   |   Dec 11, 2006

After its American and Japanese launch, Nintendo hit the Europe market with its revolutionary console, last Friday. A lot of the eager gamers couldn't wait, so they pre-ordered the console to ensure that they got a piece of the action in case of a shortage. But unfortunately, like the PS3 and the Xbox 360, the Wii's launch fell short of consoles too, leaving many disheartened.

In fact, a lot of people who pre-ordered the console received an email, stating that they might not receive their console anytime soon, due to a major shortage in the number of consoles available. Here is what David Yarnton, general manager, Nintendo UK, had to say:

"We are doing everything we can do to meet demand throughout Christmas and the New Year period."

Nintendo planned the whole thing. How can someone buy 4 and sell them on ebay for a massive profit and i can't even get one. You don't have to be a genius to work it out well done nintendon and for your next trick. We wait..............Mmm

Well at least some gamers got an email to inform then of the shortage. I pre-ordered mine from hmv has a could-not-be-bothered attitude hasn't even inform me in anyway of this failure to deliver. So very irritating the fact that a small chain called gamer in leeds has enough consoles for all its pre-ordered customers. Annoying indeed.

Yes i ordered one form currys just to receive a letter telling me that they wouldn't have it in, and then another letter afterwards saying that they may not even have them before christmas. They said that i was informed at the time of ordering that there may be shortages, but i distinctly don't remember them saying anything like that to me.

what really tugs me rag though is that these companies are more than happy to take pre-orders and of course monety for a product that they damn well know they wont be able to supply.

it a disgrace!!!!!!!!

I got my second letter from the pc world where i pre-ordered it today, saying they've received more stock but can't fulfil my pre-order. The first said i should get one before christmas, this one says i may. It seems pretty likely i won't.
