Activision Sued by Disgruntled Employees
By: Avinash Bali   |   May 03, 2006
Not learning from the slave driving ways of EA, Activision is the next videogame company that's being sued for overtime compensation, or rather lack of it. They now face a lawsuit from Shapiro Haber & Urmy LLP of Boston that states the company did not sufficiently compensate Computer Graphics employees who burnt the midnight oil working on a number of titles that made Activision a lot of money. Computer Graphics is the company responsible for modeling, texturing, lighting and animations for a number of Activision games.

“Excessive overtime is endemic in the videogame industry, but we hope that this and other lawsuits will spur major changes in the way employers treat their employees,” says firm partner Thomas Urmy.

I only hope one day Indian firms wake up, take notice and learn the art of overtime compensation.
