APB to Use PhysX Technology
By: Avinash Bali   |   Aug 27, 2008
Realtime World’s, the same dudes who gave us the most excellent Crackdown are all set to use Nvidia’s PhysX technology for their upcoming MMO APB (All Points Bulletin). How does this affect the game you say?

From the effect of explosions on nearby objects, to the impacts of car accidents, to how a character reacts when hit, physics is as important to realism as high-quality graphics.

And in case you have no clue as to what NVIDIA’s PhysX technology is all about, here’s a quick lowdown:

NVIDIA PhysX is a powerful physics engine which enables real-time physics in leading edge PC and console games. In addition, PhysX is designed specifically for hardware acceleration by powerful processors with hundreds of cores. Combined with the tremendous parallel processing capability of the GPU, PhysX will provide an exponential increase in physics processing power and will take gaming to a new level delivering rich, immersive physical gaming environments with features such as:
  • Explosions that cause dust and collateral debris
  • Characters with complex, jointed geometries for more life-like motion and interaction
  • Spectacular new weapons with incredible effects
  • Cloth that drapes and tears naturally
  • Dense smoke & fog that billow around objects in motion

Head right here for more information on APB while more on NVIDIA's PhysX Technology can be found this way.
