If this deal does go down, EA will have rights over the Crytek 2 engine (the engine powering Crysis); add that to the recently leased Unreal 3 engine from Epic and EA may just end up dominating the next gen FPS genre.
As I mentioned earler, this isn't the first company EA has acquired; in recent times they've bought over Criterion Studios (the British developers behind the Burnout series and Black) and just last week, they acquired Phenomic studios, the Germany-based developer behind SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars.
