To all those who think games only promote sex, violence and all that, here's a slight eye-opener; games can help people fight ailments like obesity and cancer. Don't believe me? Read on...
A whole bunch of game developers, doctors and government policy makers are all set to meet up this September in Maryland at the Games for Health Project, a project that's dedicated to develop games that have a medicinal purpose of sorts.
HopeLab, a company that created a game called Re-Mission specifically designed for children who have cancer, has been trying to help out with this project as well. In fact, their game met with a good amount of success as patients who played the game were more hopeful and eager to battle cancer. Here's what Richard Tate of HopeLabs had to say, "We think there is a huge potential for games to be used for good, it is just a matter of designing them thoughtfully and targeting what you want to achieve with the design."
This company is now working on games to help patients fight autism, depression, sickle cell anaemia, and childhood obesity.
