Sony is "Incredibly Arrogant"?
By: Avinash Bali   |   Jul 09,2006
Sony may have bitten off more than they can chew this time round. Not only do they have to prove themselves in the next-gen war, but they have a lot of critics to silence and disgruntled fans to please. Taking their time to perfect their PS3 is one thing, but showing pre-rendered footage trying to pass it off as in-game footage and appearing arrogant and over-confident is what may lead to their downfall.

Hey I'm not alone in my thoughts, Jeff Minter (he made a game called Tempest 2000 for the Atari Jaguar), a regular columnist for European magazine Edge, pretty much feels the same way too. According to him, "Sony is 'incredibly arrogant' and they seem absolutely certain that even when they say it's going to be considerably more expensive than existing consoles... nevertheless us eager customers will rush out in droves to buy it because it's, hey, a new PlayStation."

The past couple of months have seen a lot of Sony bashing with people spewing anti-Sony slogans left, right and center. Will Sony be able to redeem themselves? We'll have to wait till November to find out.

I won't be suprised if "eager customers" actually rush out to buy the PS3. Looks like Jeff has an axe to grind.

It doesn't matter what the price of the system is as long as the games are decent. I love the fact the Nintendo is going for "funability" with its Wii rather than flashy graphics. If Sony is going to be successful, they will need to have lots of good games to sell with their system.

This really is not news. It is just a guy telling "hmm. I agree with Minter and I also remember thinking that E3 videos were real game footage" and posting it as news.

At this point the only thing that people are focusing on is the price and the arrogance of the sony corporates (their only job is to make money and satisfy their stockholders). I think the ps3 will be worth bang for the buck and those that can afford it or have saved their money since last year will get it. Personally I'm waiting for the Tokyo gameshow in september where Sony will either silence the oposition or open the door to their ultimate demise and the fall of the Playstation as we know it.

Sony is just way to smug about their PS3. They haven't done anything to show why you should pay $600 for it and on top of that, they say it's "futureproof" and that it will have a 20 year lifespan.

Your only piece of evidence of sony being shady and arrogant was from E3 last year. There are plenty of things to slam sony for, but do your research.

The thing is, will it be worth the $600+ price tag? I say $600 or more because Sony is now debating of $600 is "too cheap".

The truth is, the PS3 really has to be better than what Sony has said to redeem themselves. That plus big Blu-Ray sales.

Ah, yes...Jeff Minter. The last thing he made of any consequence came out in 1995. The attempts to make his opinions on this suject worth anything are fanboyisnm at its finest.

The truth is, the PS3 is the most technically advanced system available. It's going to cost, certainly. But personally, I'm more willing to judge the system for what its worth, not the attitudes of the executives of the company producing it.
