Sony to Start Video Download Service
By: Avinash Bali   |   Dec 18,2006
Sony plans on launching a brand new video download service next year that'll allow users to download full length movies to their PS3 or their PCs, and movies downloaded on the PC can be transferred over and stored to the PlayStation Portable (PSP) via memory cards. A large amount of movies offered will be from Sony Pictures Entertainment, but content from other studios will be added eventually.

This is probably Sony's answer to Apple's iTunes Store where iPod owners can download video clips, TV shows and movies. It remains to see how this would work out in Sony's favor since UMDs died an extremely slow and painful death.
