Use your Brainwaves To Play Games
By: Nikhil Singh   |   Mar 08,2007
If the Wii’s motion sensing controller excited you, or the Sony’s (*cough*useless*cough*) Sixaxis impressed you, this will definitely blow your mind. Emotiv, a small firm in San Francisco have integrated electroencephalographic technology *runs out of breath* and gaming, creating a device that can allow you to use your brainwaves to play games. If you though that gaming was only for the brain dead, think again!

This 'Project Epoc' headset was revealed in the Game Developers Conference yesterday, and looks somewhat like a bicycle helmet. It will allow gamers to move objects in the virtual world with just their thoughts, as well as reflect your expression in a game. Emotiv has already developed their first product for the system called the Emotiv Development Kit (EDK). The kit will allow developers to program how the system responds to the brainwaves of its user. The possibilities of this system are beyond limitless, but it’s still in its fetal stage, so it’ll be a while before we can get our hands on it.
