Apple's popular MP3 player, the iPod, has inspired architecture: the upcoming iPad, in Dubai.
The newly announced multimillion pound building project in Dubai will be be made to look like an ipod, atop a docking station, sitting at an angle of six degrees. The 23-storey iPad, due to open in 2009, is expected to be a semi- commercial building, with capacity for 200 homes and offices.
The project is designed by award winning Hong Kong-based consultancy, James Law Cybertecture, and is being developed by Omniyat Properties.
James Law Cybertecture, has previously focused on futuristic projects such as an artificial intelligence laboratory and a 'morphable' house in Denmark which can change its shape and layout. Omniyat Properties is also involved with other hi-tech schemes, such as a £77m self-contained office building called 'The Binary'.
