Transcend Launches 32GB Flash Drive

Transcend has announced the availability of its latest high-capacity USB flash drive - the 32GB JetFlash V60 in India. Transcend is the first brand selling pen drives with such a large capacity in such a small device in India.

The JetFlash V60 has dimensions of 61mm x 18.6mm x 9.8mm. The JetFlash elite software suite can be installed to run directly from the JetFlash drive when plugged in. It also includes seven timesaving data management functions, including, Website AutoLogin, PC-Lock, Mobile Favorites, Secret-Zip encryption, Mobile E-mail, DataBackup and Online Update. The V60 also supports Windows 98SE / Me / 2000 / XP / Vista, Mac and Linux. Of course it’s Hi-Speed USB 2.0 compliant and also compatible with USB1.0/1.1.

This high capacity pen-drive is available in an assortment of bright, pearl-accented colors. It is also now available in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities. Transcend also offers its 3 year warranty.

The JetFlash V60 is priced at Rs. 7,300 (MRP).

I wonder as why All USB Drive makers have stopped including a physical " write-protect" notch on the drives ?
without it, I feel real hesistant to use any USB thumb drive on any unknown machine since one never knows what may be lurking in there

oh man i bought 1GB memstick usb in yr 2002 for 17k. Just wondering things have change, its better not to hurry to buy new product, i'm sure flash memory is the furute and gonna be faster, once USB faster version arrives in market, which has faster rewrite duplex mode.
Waiting for 1024 GB drive ;)

I remember having bought my first 512MB Flash Drive Transcend TS512MJF2A in 2003 for nearly as much this latest release !

So never rush into buy the latest... always go for the market forces determined brand-wise guarantee backed optimum price-size combo by computing the INR per MB metric across capacities and deciding the best pick !

That way you take the most prudent decision in line with your requirement since max is demands numerical incremental premium per MB and min is worthless in price per MB basis , no matter what !

Solid State will eventually replace spindle based HDD, but until then we need fatter snapable pendrives and heavy weight portable HDDs as well.

1TB 3.5" HDD is the latest but not cost-optimised on per MB basis...across brands, WD/Samsung/Seagate/Hitachi !

its a flash drive dude...not a magnetic drive... no rotating mech component to write and retrieve data.. hence the price.. but still its not proportionately priced, compared to other GB capacties.. may be it'll take some time for the price to come down.. as 2 GB USB drives.. hopefully 8GB price should get decreased...
