AMD has announced, that it plans to re-name its old RV370 core based products as the Radeon X1050. These include cards which have been released in the Radeon X300, X550 and X600 range. This is being done to make re-use of a profitable product line, as AMD since its acquisition of ATI has been facing a lot of flack over the lack of new products.
This new budget range will continue to hold on to the RV370 specifications. The RV370 is manufactured on an 110nm process and contains 75 million transistors and native PCI-E interface. It also provides support for Direct X 9.0b and Shader Model 2.0, and has 4 Pixel Shader pinelines, 2 Vertex Shader engines, 2 ROP and 128 Bit memory bandwidth.
The report filed by HEKPC states that products based on the new name will ship with a memory clock speed of 400MHz and will be available in OEM and retail channels by the end of this month.
