Asus to Introduce 1 GB Variant of 8800GT
By: Jayesh Mansukhani   |   Dec 10,2007
In what marks a return to form for Asus, they have released a new model of the 8800GT chipset that comes with 1 GB of VRAM. Called the EN8800GT/HTDP/1G this new model features Qimonda RAM, an Asus innovation to allow users to enjoy high resolutions and maximum quality settings for all kinds of games. It also features SmartDoctor, a powerful piece of software that allows users to overclock the shader clock for appreciable performance boost and a custom Glaciator Fansink design that keeps the GPU temperature 7 degrees cooler as compared to graphics cards based on reference designs.

"The ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/1G is the first EN8800GT model in the world to leverage the Qimonda DRAM that comes equipped with 8pcs of 1GB GDDR3 graphics memory," said C.P. Wu, General Manager of ASUS Graphics and Multimedia Business. Robert Feurle, Vice President of Business Unit Graphics at Qimonda added, "We are glad that Qimonda could offer ASUS this ultimate memory solution, which enables us to offer this leading product for the graphic card market".

The 1GB EN8800GT card is scheduled for retail later this month or early January 2008.

anil..thatz right......everyone looking in the vram capacity....i wanna tell them something that....they don no the meaning of gpu....thatz a perticular chip as like our microproc.
imagine a p 1 processor with a 2 gb ram(imagine!!!!)......that wont get u the best perfo.....gpu clock speed and fps is more important than the vram amount

Sphinx you can try out the SLI(2 cards) and the quadro(4 cards) technology by nvidia or the crossfire(2 cards) and spider(4 cards) by ati and be it will work wonders be it any game u point to.........

its no use putting a bigger graphics card if your processor is good enough and if you got a 512graphics card every game works
ryan @ Dec 16,2007
company is just making all consumers fool. increasing graphics memory doesnt help in boostong the game performance if the chip is same. a simple example. a person handles 2 computers simultaneously. if he is provided with 3, then the performance ll increase a bit. now if he is given 5-6 computers then all computer wont be handled effectively. as simple as that. another example, ps3 (heard of that gaming console??) it plays game at true HD resolution. it comes with 256mb video memory only.. got it?
